Joeboy drops new single ”Call” off his debut album

Nigerian afrobeat and emPawa Africa artist Joeboy has dropped a new single dubbed ”Call” off his upcoming debut album and produced by deratheboy.


Fast-rising Nigerian singer and songwriter Joseph Akinfenwa Donus, known professionally as Joeboy, has dropped a new single dubbed ‘Call’.

‘Call’ off Joeboy’s upcoming debut album was officially released on Friday, April 10.

Details provided by emPawa Africa when uploading the song on YouTube indicate that it is a lead single for the album which is in the making.

“The song introduces a darker, more urgent edge to JOEBOY’s sound,” read part of the details.

The new Afrobeats hit is all about love with Joeboy pouring out his heart to this woman that she can’t get off his mind.

“Tell me why you dey confuse me (oh baby) Your body too attractive; And the way I fall for you E Dey be like magic (oh no) Na where you dey me I go dey And I no go fit to come another day (odo) I go dey call you ma bebe Na together we go dey we no go fade away,” read part of the lyrics.
In another part of the song, Joeboy sings; “Why be sey na you dey ma mind Sey you no be an option no be a lie
Oya make we run away make we fly away (oh no no no) Why be sey na you dey ma mind Sey you no be an option no be lie Oya make we fly away make we run away.”

Only the audio of ‘Call’ has been uploaded on music streaming platforms so far.

However, according to a tweet by Joeboy, the video to the new song will be dropping soon.

“New music “Call” out now everywhere! Go stream and enjoy. Official video out soon. Produced by @deratheboy Mixed by @oxygen_mix Mastered by @ekellybeatz,” he tweeted on Friday.

Mr. Eazi, who is also a Nigerian singer and founder of emPawa discovered Joeboy in 2017 after watching an Instagram video of his cover to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’.

With barely three years in the music industry, Joeboy has already gotten over 10 nominations to various awards.

He has also won two major awards; Best Artiste in African Pop during 2019 All African Music Awards and the most recent one, Best Pop in the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival.
